About Gold Classics
Gold Classics was the only domain name remotely connected to gold nuggets
that was available to register. I would rather have had Gold Nuggets
or some other name more closely related to what I do, which is collect gold
nuggets.
I'm a gold hobbyist. I became interested in gold in the 1960's way out on
Kodiak Island, Alaska. Mr. Harry Gottschalk, owner of several businesses on
the Island including the Ships Tavern introduced me to gold. Harry was the
son of a 98'er Klondiker. Harry wore "real" gold nuggets on his wrists, cuff links,
watch band, tie tack and it was done with style and flair. He was a very
interesting man and had some great stories about the Klondike and the gold
rush around Juneau Alaska. Normans Gift Shop, Knudsens and several other
establishments at the time featured gold and gold nuggets. That's where my
interest began.
In the late 1990's and early 2000's when gold was at it's lowest price, I
began collecting in earnest. I have purchased some very large nuggets, a 107
oz., a 95 oz., a 56 oz. and more than several 20 ouncers. It's been fun. Now
that I'm up in age, it's time to sell my small collection.
Gold Classics is not a corporation. It's a sole proprietorship hobby. I've
been around and it's not easy to pull the wool over my eyes. Whatever anyone
tries, I've seen it before, so for those of you who would like to screw me,
take it somewhere else.
For those who are interested in gold nuggets, welcome. I'm very interested
in the various gold rushes. California in 1848, Colorado, Montana, South
Dakota, The Caribou rush in British Columbia in 1856, the Klondike in the
Yukon in 1898 and the several or many gold rushes in Australia from 1851 on
into the 1900's. The Klondike and Australia gold rushes tweak most of my
interest. There are some amazing tales. Australia is the only place I
haven't visited. I've followed the trails in California, Nevada, Colorado, Montana
and Alaska. I've visited the Fraser River area in Canada and spent a month on the
Klondike trail and a week in Dawson. It's been a blast.
Thank you for visiting Gold Nugget Classics.

There's a land where the mountains are
nameless,
And the rivers all run God knows where;
There are lives that are erring and aimless,
And deaths that just hang by a hair;
There are hardships that nobody reckons;
There are valleys unpeopled and still;
There's a land -- oh, it beckons and beckons,
And I want to go back -- and I will.
There's gold, and it's haunting and haunting;
It's luring me on as of old;
Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting
So much as just finding the gold.
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.
